Going through a breakup does
something to you. It not only hurts like the devil, it also
does something to the way you see yourself. You will start to
wonder what it was about you that made your ex leave. After a
while your self confidence will dwindle away to nothing as you
constantly criticize every aspect of yourself. Believe it or
not, how you see yourself will have an impact on how everyone
else sees you also. Do you think you can get your ex back if
you don’t like yourself? Not likely.
When you have low self esteem,
you see the negative side of everything. A sunny day may be too
hot for you. A friend’s promotion may be just because she
sucked up to the boss. Being negative not only will drive
people away from you, it will also change your physical
appearance. Instead of smiling, you will frown. Instead of
laughing at a joke, you may roll your eyes and walk away. Let
me tell you, if you want to get your ex back, this is not the
way to be acting.
So how do you stop this cycle
of self defeat? It’s pretty simple in theory, but it will take
some dedication on your part. Here are the steps to help you
overcome your self-defeating attitude.
Give yourself time to grieve.
When your ex breaks up with you, give yourself a few days to
cry, be angry, indulge in comfort foods and to generally feel
sorry for yourself. Let all the emotions out. But this should
not last more than three days. After the three days are up, you
are going to make some changes.
1. Now
that you have grieved, tell yourself that you will not
allow negative thoughts to enter into your mind. Start
being thankful for everything you have. Don’t think you
have anything to be thankful for? Think again. You are
still alive, you can read, you have a roof over your head,
you have clothes on your back, you have food to eat, etc.
Something happens when you start being thankful. You start
to see that life is not all that bad after all.
2. Go out and buy
some new clothes or get a new hairdo. Pamper yourself. When
you feel good about the way you look, you walk with your
head up high and you will be smiling without even knowing
it.
3. Do
something nice for someone else. By giving to someone else,
you will feel much better about yourself. Try it and see
how it makes you feel.
4. Go out
with friends and have a good time. Seek out ways to get out
of the house and have some fun. This will keep you from
falling back into the trap of feeling sorry for yourself.
If you don’t want to go out all the time, engage in a
favorite hobby. Keep yourself busy.
So how will these things help
you get your ex back? When you truly like yourself, people want
to be around you. If your ex sees that you are someone that
everyone else want to be with, he or she will naturally be
attracted to you also.
